Infieri addresses the topic of decision-making and the consequences associated with it, from the perspective of self-actualization. The key principle of the solo is silence, understood as listening to the movement in the contingent moment that occurs only in a state of necessity. The choreography becomes the only true subject of the performance: the dancer dialogues with himself, producing negative volumes, and with the empty room he crosses, demonstrating its density. The rhythm is marked by the dance, often gestural, which turns out to be similar to a conversation, at times excited, almost as if looking for an answer. The differentiation of movement qualities gives the solo an assertive and abandoning force; Infieri is probably the search for awareness, the liberation from something that hunts us and intimidates us, it is certainly the need to continue, to react, always present. A journey towards oneself to come out of oneself, in a time apparently in stasis, but flowing.
Infieri’s artistic project was born in 2019 as part of the Bachelor in modern dance at the “Folkwang” University of the Arts, Essen-Germany, on the occasion of the “Junge Choreograph*innen” evening. Pierandrea Rosato presents it again after a few years, after having re-imagined, revisited and re-experienced it through its present condition; the artist places himself in the position of shedding light on the preexisting material, which turns out to be transformed in this new approach, questioning why this happened and what instead has remained unchanged.
