Claudia Catarzi
After training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, she began his career working with Micha Van Hoecke’s Ensemble. Later she danced with companies such as Dorky Park/ Constanza Macras (Berlin), Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, Aldes/ Roberto Castello, Company Blu/ Alessandro Certini and Charlotte Zerbey, En-Knap Group/ Iztok Kovač (Ljubljana), Làszlò Hudi (J.Nadj – Budapest), among others. In 2009 she is part of Choreoroam, a research project by Israeli choreographer Yasmeen Godder (Tel Aviv). Later she was invited to follow the work of Ohad Naharin’s Batsheva Dance Company. She has collaborated with the choreographer Ambra Senatore since the beginning of her company research work between Italy and France, being part of all her first works. Since 2011 she has been working on personal creations. The solo Arrivò senza colore wins the co-production Sosta Palmizi and Un giorno, a duo in which she collaborates with Mariano Nieddù, is finalist at the ” Premio Equilibrio 2010″ (direction of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui).
Her two latest creations see her for the first time share the scene with two female figures: Michal Mualem, historical dancer in Sasha Waltz’s company in A set of timings and Claudia Caldarano, former dancer of Virgilio Sieni, in Posare il tempo. The live presence of the musician Gianni Maestrucci in Posare il tempo – percussionist of the famous group Tetraktis – leads the danced duet to present itself rather as a trio. Claudia Catarzi is currently an associate artist of the CDCN of Bordeaux, La Manufacture | Bordeaux- Nouvelle Aquitaine.
